La Maestra et son orchestre baroque acclamé ajoutent à leur discographie distinguée d'AVIE qui comprend le Dixit Dominus et le Messie de Haendel, avec sa propre adaptation de l'oratorio du compositeur Israel in Egypt. Cette vitrine orchestrale colorée emmène l'auditeur dans un voyage biblique des lamentations israélites sur la mort de Joseph, aux grenouilles, aux sauterelles, aux maladies et aux ténèbres qui affligent les Egyptiens, en passant par la séparation miraculeuse de la mer Rouge par Moïse. Apollo's Fire lance l'album avec une performance d'Israël en Egypte le 21 octobre, avant de se rendre dans l'est pour une collaboration avec l'Orchestre philharmonique de New York les 25 et 26 octobre. Aux côtés de Sorrell et Apollo's Fire se trouvent les sopranos Margaret Carpenter Haigh et Molly Netter, le contre-ténor Daniel Moody, le ténor Jacob Perry, le baryton Edward Vogel et le choeur des Apollo's Singers.
